Longstreet’s Corps Staff
Needs You!!
Have you ever wondered what goes on, with Corps Staff, while you and your comrades drill, cook, sew on buttons and fight ? Well, for a fairly small staff, we usually have a lot to do; receiving reports, writing and transmitting orders for General Cornett and seeing to his personal needs, entertaining visiting officers and event organizers, seeing to logistical needs for the troops, organizing and conducting parades, designing routes of march and scenario details, just to name a few routine tasks. Much happens that most are not aware of.
With the 150th Anniversary Series of Events in the formative stages, we realize that our existing Corps Staff needs to be augmented, in order for us to have all facets of planning and implementation ready, for each event. This will require us to seek your help. Have you ever said to yourself, “I have talents I’ll bet the Staff doesn’t even know about, that might help our Corps?” Well, now is the chance to put those musings to the test.
We plan to add an as-yet undetermined number of applicants, to our Corps Staff, as Brevetted Second Lieutenants, to assist existing Staff and General Cornett. You will essentially be Aides-de-Camp, while being trained in a variety of positions, all-the-while being evaluated for your aptitude and efficiency, for specific duties. Apprentices in Adjutant duties, Provost, Quartermaster and other needed areas, will be trained by our Staff members, to allow you both knowledge and comfort levels, for these posts.
In all honesty, Longstreet’s Corps runs its operations with one of the smallest Staffs in all of re-enacting. With five years worth of events about to commence, we must add, temporarily, to our ranks.
Send your letter of interest - preferably by e-mail - to both myself, at colonelgallion@verizon.net and to General Cornett, at stonewallonice@aol.com . Make sure we’ll know how to get in touch with you personally, to discuss your interest, and possible commitment. Don’t wait too long to respond; we have a lot of work to do, and we need your help. Having said that, we will take applications only through September 1, 2010, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Colonel Greg Gallion
Chief-of-Staff
